Name: Pedestrian Experience Index

Display Field: name

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolyline

Description: The Pedestrian Experience Index (PEI) analysis is a pedestrian complement to the Bicycle Level of Traffic Stress analysis. It incorporates built environment data such as presence of sidewalks, sidewalk condition, posted travel speeds, and other metrics to qualify the pedestrian experience for each block face. Each segment is given a final PEI score and then based on that score, is grouped into one of the following corresponding tiers: 0-15%, 15-30%, 30-45%, 45-60%, or 60-100%. A higher pedestrian quality of experience percentage means the pedestrian experience is better. This analysis will allow agencies to look more holistically at the pedestrian network and make appropriate project recommendations based on improving the overall pedestrian experience. Analysis was developed by Cambridge Systematics as part of the 2024 Active Transportation Plan.
