Description: This dataset represents Tree Approximate Objects (TAOs) derived from 2010 QL1-grade USGS LiDAR for the Lake Tahoe Basin. The U.S. Forest Service Remote Sensing Laboratory (USFS RSL) processed the LiDAR point cloud to delineate individual tree crowns and estimate associated attributes, including imputed diameter at breast height (DBH). The imputation model estimates DBH values up to a maximum of 48 inches; however, some individual trees in the Basin may exceed this size. The dataset displayed here includes only trees with a model-imputed DBH greater than 36 inches, representing large-diameter trees in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Description: This <Forest> National Forest Existing Vegetation (Eveg) polygon layer is a recently completed <year> Classification and Assessment with LANDSAT of Visible Ecological Groupings (CALVEG) map product at a scale of 1:24,000, which updates and revises the <year> data for the National Forest administrative areas, including private land inholdings. The CALVEG classification system was used for vegetation typing and crosswalked to other classification systems in this database. USGS Land Use / Land Cover Anderson 1 classification system is now included in the database to meet national standard requirements. Mapping standards now meet requirements of the USDA Forest Service as defined by the FS GIS data dictionary, FGDC Vegetation standards and the FS Existing Vegetation Classification and Mapping Technical Guide. Regional add-ons are retained for crosswalking to the California Wildlife Habitat Relationship System. For more information refer to the GIS layer description, Existing Vegetation Mid Level Map by the USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Region, at http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/r5/landmanagement/resourcemanagement/?cid=stelprdb5365219
